alhambra

Built by the Nasrid Dynasty, the Alhambra stretches to 26-35 acres, including Alcazaba (barracks for the elite guards), Medina (city), and the Generalife (the palace and gardens). Being the center of political power in the Nasrid court, the Hall of the Ambassadors is lined with zellij tilework and inscriptions, reflecting Islamic calligraphy as its finest!

Sala de la Barca (Hall of the Boat) faced a fire incident in 1890, but was fully repaired. With its rich stucco, it serves as a waiting room for guests.

N.B. The name with ‘boat’ has nothing to do with the architecture!

Offering a golden hue from its decorations, the Golden Room showcases a mastery of woodcraft and polychrome painting. It is a room between the Mexuar and the Comores Palace.
